Job Description We have an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Manager within the Cat Digital – Business Resources team, providing finance leadership and support to the Application Engineering organization. Cat Digital leads Caterpillar and the industry in data analytics, innovation, and digital channels to drive profit and unlock new revenue streams.
As an Accounting Manager, you will lead a team of finance professionals handling cost accounting and business decision analysis at a high complexity. You will work on medium to high‑risk issues and provide guidance to other accountants. The role offers exposure to CFO, VPs, and SVP of the Cat Digital Division.
Responsibilities
Provide financial leadership and support to the Application Engineering organization within Cat Digital.
Manage financial operations and product portfolio budgeting and expense analysis, including actual results, quarterly forecasts, and annual planning.
Communicate and present to senior leaders on a regular cadence during Monthly Business Reviews.
Support NPI with future cost, should cost, and alternative analyses.
Determine Internal Rate of Return for medium to high complexity projects.
Advise and provide guidance to multiple functional areas.
Handle broader business issues such as target cost establishment, forecasting, cost reduction quantification, and competitive sourcing analysis.
Lead initiatives outside the team to represent the group (e.g., process improvements, lean initiatives, new business requirements).
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of Caterpillar’s businesses, products, suppliers, and customers.
Skills and Qualifications
Business Acumen: knowledge of business concepts and tools.
Effective Communications: ability to transmit and interpret information accurately.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: analyze situations and reach productive decisions.
Leadership: enlisting others to achieve objectives.
Organizational Governance: ensure compliance with governance guidelines.
Strategic Thinking: big‑picture planning and focus on key success factors.
Financial Reporting & Analysis: read, interpret, and conclude financial data.
Financial Forecasting and Modeling: evaluate alternative financial scenarios.
Finance and Accounting: apply finance knowledge appropriately.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, progressive experience in cost accounting and budgeting; CPA or CMA preferred.
Previous experience supporting senior leaders.
Additional Information
Location: Peoria, IL or Chicago, IL.
Required Travel: up to 10% domestic/international.

Pay Range $126,000.00 – $189,000.00
