Head of Construction - Elsdon Construction
An established general contractor in the Phoenix area is seeking an experienced
Commercial Estimator
to join their preconstruction team. This individual will play a key role in evaluating project specifications, developing detailed cost estimates, and supporting bid submissions across a range of commercial construction projects.
The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate quantity take-offs, analyzing subcontractor proposals, and ensuring all estimates reflect current market conditions and company standards. They will collaborate closely with project managers, owners, and design teams to deliver competitive bids and maintain the company’s reputation for precision and reliability in the marketplace.
Base Pay Range $100,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr
Key Responsibilities
Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for all phases of commercial construction projects.
Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
Assist with bid strategy development and value engineering initiatives.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project reviews as required.
Maintain cost databases, historical pricing, and unit cost information.
Work collaboratively with project management and field operations to ensure seamless project handoff.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
3–7 years of estimating experience within commercial construction (ground-up, tenant improvement, or renovation).
Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, materials, and market pricing.
Proficiency with estimating software (such as Bluebeam, OST, or Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
