Senior Controls & Process Automation Engineers – Corporate Technology Development Join Evapco’s Corporate Technology Development team as a senior lead/engineer with 7‑10+ years in technical leadership, architecture development, hardware selection, system design, and code experience.

The Department focuses on evaluating and developing new technologies to improve processes globally. Work crosses manufacturing, product development, operations, quality, and IT.

Core Competencies & Qualifications

Experience selecting and programming logic controllers, servos, drives, HMIs, OT network communications, safety risk assessments, and designing controls to NEC, UL, and international electrical codes.

Experience with pick‑and‑place robotics, welding robotics, collaborative robots, and machine‑vision systems.

Proficiency with Rockwell (Allen‑Bradley), Siemens & Schneider PLCs & Drives, and building automation systems.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or related field.

Good mechanical aptitude, hands‑on field work, willingness to travel internationally and a valid passport.

Strong communication, project management and organizational skills.

AutoCAD and Solid Edge proficiency strongly desired.

Knowledge of US and international safety codes.

Responsibilities

Design and implement Automation & Control systems for production machinery, test cells, and production test equipment.

Participate in machine design and productivity improvement teams to lead automation and controls development.

Recommend best strategies for machine control applications (AC drives, DC servo drives, microcontrollers, robotics, vision systems, sensors, hydraulics, pneumatics).

Specify, purchase and manage control & automation packages, both internally fabricated and outsourced.

Program PLC, HMI, robotics platforms and building automation systems.

Create project documentation: certified drawings, production drawings, electrical schematics, bill of materials.

Support and travel to worldwide facilities for start‑up, commissioning, training and maintenance.

Train factory technicians on building, testing, wiring and compliance.

Coordinate with field technicians for start‑up, commissioning and troubleshooting.

Develop unique solutions to R&D requests for product modifications.

Conduct risk assessment studies and develop safeguarding methodologies for compliance.

Maintain knowledge of drive, microcontroller, sensor technologies and codes through continuous learning.

Location Taneytown, MD (possibility to travel worldwide)
