Entry Level Structural Bridge Engineer
Location: Raleigh or Charlotte, North Carolina. This full‑time role is designed for a recent graduate or early‑career professional who is excited to launch their engineering career in a collaborative, mission‑driven environment.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with team on structural analysis and/or design of bridges (including steel beam, prestressed concrete beam, concrete slab, pedestrian bridges, culverts, retaining walls, grade separations, stream crossings, bridge hydraulic analysis, bridge rehabilitations, bridge feasibility studies, bridge structure type studies, bridge load ratings, railroad bridges, and design‑build pursuits).
Prepare drawings, plans, and technical specifications for bridge and roadway projects.
Conduct load ratings and structural evaluations of existing bridges.
Support field inspections and data collection efforts.
Collaborate with senior engineers and project teams to solve engineering challenges.
Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal standards and regulations.
Contribute to project documentation, including reports, calculations, and cost estimates.
Other duties as assigned.
Education & Credentials
Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural emphasis preferred.
Preferred: EIT Certification.
Qualifications
Required: 1‑5 years of bridge/culvert design experience.
Required: Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and Manual for Bridge Evaluation.
Required: Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred: Experience with CAD plan development, MicroStation/ORD.
Compensation Pay: $65,000 – $85,000 per year based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.
