As a
Transmission Planning Engineer
on our Expansion Planning team, you’ll work closely with MISO members and stakeholders to develop and present transmission plans for inclusion in the MISO Transmission Expansion Plan (MTEP). In this role, you’ll also support multiple departments by performing a wide range of reliability and compliance assessments—including steady-state, transient, and voltage stability analyses, project reviews, and compliance reporting. Beyond technical work, you’ll have opportunities to lead process improvement initiatives, mentor fellow engineers, and manage key processes and projects. You’ll grow your technical expertise, build valuable professional relationships, and help shape the future of the grid.
Within Your First Year, Success Will Look Like
Collaborating effectively with MISO’s members and internal teams to complete an MTEP cycle
Actively supporting the steady-state or transient stability analysis efforts
Taking ownership of key NERC compliance activities, including standards like TPL-001-4/5 and others under MISO’s responsibility
We Are Looking For Talented Professionals Who Have
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering technology, electrical and computer engineering, electrical and electronic engineering or electronics and computer engineering technology.
At least two years of related job experience.
While not required, it would be advantageous if you have any of the following:
Previous expansion planning, transmission planning, or RTO experience.
Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $86,000-$111,000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience.
