VP, Digital and Programmatic (Retail Focus)
Join dentsu as the VP, Digital and Programmatic (Retail Focus) to lead key client relationships and grow a team responsible for delivering excellence in retail media, ensuring exceptional campaign execution and performance. You will define dentsu Media’s holistic commerce and retail media vision, drive thought leadership, and implement initiatives that foster continuous improvement across the organization.
Responsibilities
Programmatic Leadership:
Oversee client relationships, campaign execution, and independently manage and lead multiple teams.
Cross-Channel Strategy:
Implement digital and programmatic strategies proactively across the portfolio and collaborate with search, social, and commerce teams.
Retail Media Integration:
Develop and execute retail media strategies across major networks (Amazon Ads, Walmart Connect, Target Roundel, Criteo, Best Buy Ads).
Align retail media with programmatic and broader digital initiatives to create unified, data-driven campaigns.
Leverage retailer data and first‑party insights for advanced targeting and personalization.
Client Engagement:
Drive strategy for client engagements and provide oversight to ensure high‑quality work.
Growth & Innovation:
Identify upsell and cross‑sell opportunities for organic growth, including retail media solutions.
Strategic Planning:
Engage with clients and Client Center leadership to assess account health and set goals for improvement and growth.
Operational Excellence:
Ensure adherence to client contracts/SOWs, develop staffing plans, and prioritize profitability.
Thought Leadership:
Participate in panels, fireside chats, and other public speaking opportunities; routinely contribute to new business pitches.
Education & Enablement:
Foster awareness of dentsu tools and retail media products among the broader team.
Risk Management:
Enforce risk‑mitigation controls for campaign management and hands‑on activation work.
Culture & Development:
Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or 12+ years’ experience within programmatic, retail media, and digital industry.
Experienced leader with a proven history of leading highly successful teams.
Deep knowledge of Retail Media ecosystems including Amazon, Walmart, Criteo, Best Buy, and emerging platforms.
Detailed knowledge of Retail KPIs and the impact of media activation on brand revenue and sell‑in.
Experience across all digital media channels and the ability to speak to each eloquently.
History of developing positive, ongoing client relationships with a focus on client service.
Experience managing complexity across multiple groups, clients, and inter‑agency partners.
Ability to see the big picture and drive organizational and client success.
Exceptional project management skills and a collaborative mindset.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
Proficiency in programmatic technology, platform, and partner solutions (DSPs, ad servers, verification platforms, planning/financial tools, DMPs, analytics dashboards).
Strong experience with business applications.
Annual Salary Range:
$113,000 – $182,850. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.
