Job Overview Lenovo is seeking a business‑solutions‑driven Vice President to support its Intelligent Devices Group (IDG) – comprising the PC and mobile handset businesses – and the Group Operations organization (GOO), which includes Global Supply Chain, Strategic Alliances, Digital Transformation, and Customer Experience functions. The role reports to Lenovo’s SVP and Chief Legal Officer and is located in Chicago, IL or Raleigh, NC; remote candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities

Proactively advise IDG senior leadership and global business teams on product and service development, IP licensing and disputes, alternative/creative business models, supply chain and distribution, strategic partnerships, regulatory compliance, and commercial disputes.

Act as an interface and liaison for other Corporate Legal functions such as IP, Ethics Compliance, Data Privacy, Commercial Contracts and Litigation, Geo Legal teams, and Government Relations Trade.

Provide business‑focused legal counsel and collaborative partnership on key global business initiatives.

Serve as a member of the Legal Department’s Senior Leadership team and participate in meetings with IDG’s leadership.

Basic Qualifications

JD degree from a top‑tier U.S. law school.

20+ years post‑qualification experience advising global companies, with strong business and financial acumen.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the PC and mobile industry with a strategic grasp of IP, including IP litigation and licensing.

Negotiation experience with tier‑one partners such as Microsoft, Meta, Google, and Qualcomm.

Familiarity with AI software and the AI ecosystem.

Knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to a dynamic, evolving technology business.

Currently licensed to practice in the U.S.

High degree of professional ethics and integrity.

Strategic agility and strong issue‑spotting ability across multiple legal fields.

Sound judgment, advanced analytical skills, and ability to anticipate and mitigate legal risks.

Capacity to manage multiple matters simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines.

Executive presence and experience engaging with senior‑level colleagues and clients globally.

Supervisory experience and ability to coach, sponsor, and ally with teams.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including legal drafting.

Team‑player mindset working with other functional legal subject matter experts.

Ability to zealously represent IDG’s and the GOO’s interests and leverage relationships with sophisticated vendors and customers.

Calm, rapid assessment of legal matters and clear, coherent response under stress.

Desired Skills

Undergraduate degree in business or engineering (plus).

Combination of law firm and in‑house experience.

Innovative, creative, and practical in crafting solutions that protect and enable business interests.

Intelligent, calm, influential demeanor with a willingness to roll up sleeves and dig in.

Deep understanding of technology industry dynamics and key business drivers.

Track record of structuring and negotiating complex commercial transactions involving advanced technologies.

The base salary budgeted range for this position is 250,000 – 350,000 USD. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission.
