Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Management Department at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position in Strategic Management at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2026. The primary responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate-level courses in strategic management, conducting scholarly activities that result in quality peer-reviewed publications, student advising, and service to advance the mission of the department, school, and university. Instructional duties include teaching five classes per academic year. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
This position requires a Ph.D. in Strategic Management or a closely related field, either granted or nearly completed at the time of application. ABD candidates who will have their Ph.D. conferred by August 1, 2026, will be appointed as Assistant Professor. ABD candidates whose Ph.D. is not conferred by August 1, 2026, will be appointed as a Lecturer for a one-year fixed-term appointment at a slightly reduced salary. Degree verification must be provided before the end of the one-year contract. Upon conferral of the Ph.D., the individual will be appointed as Assistant Professor with commensurate compensation beginning July 1, 2027. Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Ability to teach across strategy and entrepreneurship. Experience teaching in multiple modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and online). Demonstrated interest in engaging with the regional business community and mentoring students. Evidence of collaborative research and interdisciplinary scholarship. Special Notes to Applicants
