Massachusetts General Hospital
Assistant Professor of Neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School / Broad Institute
The
Mouro Pinto Lab
in the Center for Genomic Medicine, at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow candidate. We are interested in
repeat expansion disorders , such as
Huntington’s disease
and
Friedreich Ataxia , with a major focus on characterizing the mechanisms responsible for somatic repeat instability as potential therapeutic targets. We use a combination of mouse and patient-derived cellular models, genome engineering tools, viral-based delivery techniques and next-generation sequencing, to
1)
develop methods for unbiased quantification of long somatic repeat expansions,
2)
identify novel biomarkers and disease modifier genes, and ultimately
3)
develop new CRISPR-based gene therapies for these devastating disorders.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Biology, Genetics, Neuroscience or other closely related fields, or an M.D. with relevant research experience.
Desirable skills
include expertise in any of the following:
CRISPR/Cas9-based gene editing and off-target analysis
Molecular biology and cloning techniques
Animal handling and in vivo research
AAV design
Mammalian cell culturing (preference for experience with iPSC differentiation)
Gene expression analysis (preference for RNA-Seq and single cell experience)
Long-read sequencing (Pacbio/Nanopore)
Immunohistochemistry
Biomarker discovery
Exosome and extracellular vesicle isolation
Bioinformatics and computational biology
We offer competitive pay according to experience (starting at $70,000) and assistance with visa application for international candidates. More information can be found at https://mouropintolab.mgh.harvard.edu.
Interested applicants should send a copy of their CV/Biosketch, a summary of research accomplishments and a brief description of research interests and career goals to rmouropinto@mgh.harvard.edu.
Applications through LinkedIn will not be monitored.
