Job Description We are seeking a forward‑thinking, technically accomplished, and highly communicative Mechanical Director to lead our mechanical engineering practice across mission‑critical and large‑scale infrastructure projects. This role will oversee the strategic development, technical delivery, and operational excellence of all mechanical engineering services, ensuring the successful integration of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection systems into world‑class facilities.

Job Duties

Lead the Mechanical Division – set vision, standards, and priorities for mechanical engineering services across diverse project types and geographies.

Oversee Mechanical Design Operations – manage engineering teams, project managers, and technical staff to deliver high‑quality designs on schedule and within budget.

Ensure Technical Excellence – provide high‑level oversight of system design, calculations, specifications, and reviews for HVAC, piping, plumbing, fire protection, and energy systems.

Drive Design Quality and Consistency – develop and implement design standards, QA/QC processes, and technical guidelines to ensure consistent, code‑compliant engineering solutions.

Collaborate in Pre‑Construction & Design Phases – partner with internal disciplines and external stakeholders early in the design process to integrate mechanical solutions into overall project strategies.

Represent Mechanical Engineering with Clients and Partners – serve as the executive point of contact for the mechanical scope, fostering trusted relationships with clients, contractors, and facility owners.

Lead and Mentor Teams – develop and mentor mechanical engineers and designers, ensuring scalable delivery capacity and succession planning.

Monitor Performance & Profitability – establish KPIs and reporting systems for project quality, efficiency, resource allocation, and client satisfaction.

Innovate & Improve – identify opportunities for design innovation, energy efficiency, and sustainability in system solutions; stay ahead of emerging codes, standards, and technologies.

Ensure Compliance and Safety – maintain adherence to applicable codes, industry standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, local codes), and client protocols while promoting a strong safety and quality culture across teams.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.

12+ years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering with extensive exposure to mission‑critical, data center, or large‑scale infrastructure projects.

5+ years in a leadership role with responsibility for technical teams, budgets, and strategic operations.

Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.

Expertise in HVAC, chilled water systems, CRAC/CRAH units, boilers, piping, fire protection, and controls integration.

Strong experience reviewing and stamping designs, calculations, and technical documentation.

Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams through complex, high‑stakes project environments.

Proven communication and client‑facing skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

Familiarity with ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, and other relevant codes and frameworks.

Proficient in MS Office Suite; working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and mechanical design software platforms required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience delivering mechanical design for hyperscale data centers or global technology clients.

Background in sustainable design practices, energy modeling, or LEED certification.

Experience building and scaling mechanical engineering teams across regions or markets.

Familiarity with integrated project delivery methods (Design‑Build, IPD, etc.).

Track record of driving design process improvements or leveraging emerging technologies (e.g., BIM coordination, digital twin modeling).
