Overview
Senior RF Seeker Engineer
Location: Columbia, Maryland
Job Status: Full Time
Clearance: Top Secret
Salary: $150,000-$180,000
SEG supports the US Navy and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) by performing trade studies, design prototyping, and analysis of radars, EO/IR sensors, RF seeker systems, electronic warfare systems, and weapon systems. For this position, we are seeking a Senior RF Seeker engineer to support the development of a digital representation of the RF seeker for inclusion in deliverable simulations to our government customers and end-users. The ideal candidate has RF seeker systems engineering experience including RF seeker physical design, signal processing design and analyses, seeker testing, and an active TS clearance. The position is based in Columbia, MD but may require on-site support at customer locations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
The candidate must be a US citizen and have a background that would permit the U.S. Department of Defense to issue a Secret clearance
Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a technical discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
10-12 years of experience
Experience in the design or analysis of RF sensor systems, seekers, or electronic warfare systems
Fundamental knowledge of RF signal processing techniques and concepts, including RF apertures, radar waveforms, electromagnetic wave propagation
Proficiency in MATLAB for modeling, simulation, and data analysis
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to learn rapidly and work independently and on a team
Ability to guide a small team in technical project lead capacity
Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain and hold a clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
Active Top Secret clearance
Experience designing, implementing RF seeker algorithms within various fidelity (up to 6 DoF) missile simulations.
Experience performing RF system modeling, performance prediction, and data analysis
Understanding of RF seeker hardware, antenna design, or real-world RF data analysis.
Experience with digital signal processing and/or digital beam forming
Familiarity with electronic attack and protection techniques
Experience with verification and validation (V&V) processes for modeling and simulation
Strong Matlab, Python, and C++ skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
Understanding customer requirements, supporting a team of engineers and software developers to design and develop simulation solutions, and demonstrating that capability to our government customers and other critical stakeholders.
Identifying and evaluating critical design points, such as sensor type, antenna design, and power requirements, and relating these to physical design of the seeker.
Designing and documenting the RF sensor concept of operations, including the modes of operation and their corresponding timelines, the operating frequencies, pulse repetition frequencies, scan pattern, and waveform selection.
Implementing the signal processing algorithms, including detection, track, clutter mitigation, and electronic protection.
Work on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative.
Determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.
Lead a small cross functional team as a technical project lead.
