Senior Systems Security Engineer - Strategic Data Systems
Dahlgren Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, VA — Salary negotiable (dependent on experience level), Full time with benefits, flexible start date contingent on contract award.
Strategic Data Systems (SDS) is an experienced technical solutions provider for the Navy, Marine Corps, DoD, and other federal customers. Our mission is to provide exceptional technical capabilities, management, and support to the warfighter.
This role provides technical leadership for security and systems administration, including design, deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, and management of security solutions in alignment with DoD cybersecurity policies and standards.
The ideal candidate possesses expertise in vulnerability analysis, risk assessment, STIG implementation, system accreditation, and audits to ensure secure, compliant IT environments across DoD and Navy systems.
Responsibilities
Design, install, configure, and manage security solutions for Navy IT environments.
Conduct vulnerability analysis and risk assessments to identify and mitigate security threats.
Perform SCAP scans and implement STIGs to harden systems.
Execute virus and malware scans, ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards.
Support accreditation and auditing of systems, maintaining compliance with DoD and Navy security frameworks.
Troubleshoot security incidents, access control issues, and system vulnerabilities to maintain a resilient IT environment.
Provide technical guidance and cybersecurity best practices to IT and security teams.
Qualifications
Six (6) years of professional experience in IT security with the DoD or Navy, including vulnerability analysis, risk analysis, SCAP scans, and STIG implementation.
Experience with SIEM tools, endpoint security solutions, and intrusion detection systems.
Qualified experience in accreditation of systems and audits, including TEMPEST testing.
Required to hold IAM III certifications such as CISM or CISSP.
Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
