Position Project Engineer, Commissioning – Commissioning & Building Analytics (CBA) team. Supports reliable, timely and efficient support to the CBA team, working with internal and external stakeholders at all organization levels.

Responsibilities

Carry out commissioning processes and deliverables covered in ASHRAE, CSA, and LEED commissioning requirements.

Inspect, test and support mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment/systems for commissioning activities.

Monitor, review and execute all facets of commissioning‑related projects by providing exceptional technical and field activities.

Provide strong technical functions throughout design, pre‑construction, construction, and post‑construction phases of projects.

Liaise with team members, outside consultants and contractors to lead cross‑functional teams on various projects.

Develop and execute commissioning plans and specifications.

Manage commissioning projects, develop activity schedules and sequencing of work.

Conduct comprehensive field‑based commissioning activities, including site visits, start‑up and test forms, Functional Test scripts and Integrated Systems Test scripts.

Perform commissioning design drawing & specification reviews, and submittal (shop drawing) reviews.

Chair commissioning meetings.

Use calibrated testing equipment (flow hoods, anemometers, pitot tubes, IR cameras, power‑quality meters, etc.).

Test mechanical and HVAC&R systems and building management & automation systems, plumbing equipment and systems, lighting controls, and normal/emergency power systems.

Track and resolve issues using an issues log.

Develop and execute seasonal/performance tests.

Compile project documentation into site/project specific systems manuals.

Develop, review, and evaluate training programs for installed equipment and systems.

Support front‑to‑back project documentation requirements and field activity components.

Additional Expectations

Willingness to travel up to 50% to client sites across the USA.

Assist the team in meeting the demanding workload.

Manage multiple projects and assignments concurrently.

Work effectively both individually and in a team environment.

Strong troubleshooting & root‑cause analysis skills.

Qualifications Required

Recognized university technical degree or equivalent; Engineering degree preferred.

Experience using mechanical testing meters and equipment; analyze and report test results (portable data loggers, airflow meters, TAB reports, etc.).

Minimum 2 years of relevant mechanical or electrical engineering and/or field‑testing.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient in MS Office products.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate and organize multiple project schedules.

Strong data management skills.

Desired

Professional Engineer/PE or PMP designation is considered an asset.

Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP), Certified Power Quality Professional (CPMP), Building Commissioning Professional (BCxP) or Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) are considered assets.

LEED AP certification is preferred.

Willingness and ability to travel internationally when needed.

Experience with electrical testing meters and equipment, reporting power‑quality meters (PQM), thermography, NETA tests, ground tests, hi‑pot, megger, etc. (asset).

Compensation Estimated total compensation: $85,000 – $120,000 USD per year.
