QTEC Aerospace is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our team of professionals in Huntsville, AL. The qualified applicant will become part of a team supporting a large Missile Defense Development Program. The successful candidate will be a team leader, detail oriented, have a proven track record, and a positive work ethic.
Job Summary QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The selected candidate will serve as the Lead Software Engineer on the Fire Control System for a large Missile Defense Program.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Participate in all phases of the SDLC including requirements analysis, design, development, integration, and testing
Lead a team and drive value delivery for the infrastructure of a complex Missile Defense command and control system
Support an in-person / closed‑area work environment
Occasional travel may be required
Minimum Education And Experience
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and at least 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree with 6 years of related experience, or 4 years with a Ph.D. not to exceed 14 years
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Recent and extensive experience developing software in C++ or Java
Willingness to become proficient with Ada software development
Experience with Unix/Linux Operating Systems
Experience leading a technical team of 5 or more individuals
Experience estimating, planning, and scheduling software development work for a technical team
Eager to learn and absorb new concepts and information
Experience with Agile Project Management tools (Jira/Confluence) and DevSecOps tools and methods (Jenkins, Ansible, Git/GitLab) of continuous integration/continuous delivery and deployment (CI/CD) automation
Proven experience understanding complex algorithms and implementing them in software
Proven team player able to understand multiple aspects of the project
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and prepare and brief technical presentations to the customer as needed
Self‑motivated and customer‑oriented
Desired Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
MDA and Missile Defense Systems experience and knowledge
Experience developing software in Ada
Recent MATLAB and Python experience
Highly experienced with Linux, scripting, and operations
Advanced degree in Mathematics or Physics
Math skills: Linear Algebra, Statistics, Algorithms (can be from coursework or work experience)
Physics skills: Astro or Orbital mechanics (can be from coursework or work experience)
Experience with optimization algorithms
Experience with planning/scheduling algorithms
Experience with sensor modeling, communication modeling, and/or missile modeling
Battle Management or Fire Control experience
Security Clearance Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.
