Position Overview Henry Ford Health seeks a skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for a contingent position in Neurosurgery at Henry Ford St. John Hospital. This opportunity is for a high–performing, collaborative neurosurgery team in a top‑tier facility.

Applicants must have at least one year of advanced practice provider (APP) experience. Prior experience in neurosurgery and/or ICU settings is highly preferred. New graduates will not be considered. The ideal candidate is motivated, adaptable, and has a solid foundation in managing complex patients in high‑acuity environments. Strong communication skills, clinical competence, and a team‑oriented approach are essential.

Weekend & Call Requirements Weekend:

Yes, 1 shift per 6‑week schedule.

Responsibilities

Provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and families.

Deliver inpatient and/or outpatient medical care in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other team members to ensure safe and efficient patient outcomes.

Perform procedures as per credentialing, when indicated by training and experience.

Education & Experience Required

Master’s degree in nursing OR Bachelor’s degree or completion of an AMA‑approved Physician Assistant program.

At least one year of APP experience; ICU and/or neurosurgery experience highly recommended.

Certifications & Licenses

Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (national certification).

Current state license as a Registered Nurse or Michigan state licensure for PA.

Current BLS; ACLS/ATLS/PALS provider status as required by department.

DEA/CSL required for PAs.
