Job Summary & Responsibilities POWER Engineers, a member of WSP, is looking for an Entry-level Electrical SCADA/Studies Engineer in Portland, OR. Responsibilities include performing electrical studies and developing, troubleshooting, and maintaining SCADA systems for utility and industrial/commercial clients. Key activities cover:
Protective Relaying: short circuit and symmetrical component analysis, time-current coordination, protection scheme and criteria development, relay settings calculation, integration with SCADA, NERC compliance, and arc flash analysis. Software: AcSELerator Quickset, AcSELerator Architect, GE Enervista, ASPEN Oneliner, SKM-PTW, ETAP, RSCAD/RTDS.
Power System Planning Studies: steady-state real and reactive power flow including outage contingencies, generation interconnect feasibility, PV and QV analysis, dynamic stability performance, automation of large batch simulations, NERC compliance. Software: PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld, Python scripting.
Infrastructure Design Studies: substation grounding, corona and electric/magnetic fields, insulation coordination, transient simulation, power quality analysis, motor starting, AC interference. Software: CDEGS, ATP-EMTP, PSCAD.
Networking & Communications: design and configure network paths for RTUs, relays, meters, HMI, PLCs; create specs for fiber, microwave, PLC, radio; troubleshoot and commission. Protocols: DNP, Modbus, SEL Protocol, Goose Messaging, IEC 61850.
Logic & Control Systems: develop and implement logic for power system equipment; program on platforms such as SEL RTAC, Orion, Cooper SMP, GE-D20; test and commission.
Data Acquisition: prepare point lists, program data addressing, create HMI screens, test and commission data transfer schemes. Software: Wonderware, Clearview, AcSELerator RTAC, Visual Basic, OSIPI, Python scripting.

Internships or experience with the technical areas and software listed above
EIT certification with intent to pursue PE registration
