Under the direction of the Shareholder Training & Recruitment Supervisor and in accordance with BSNC guidelines, policies, and federal laws, this position shall provide administrative support in developing and leading ongoing shareholder development. The Shareholder Training & Recruitment Specialist is responsible for confidential and time-sensitive material and must be able to effectively communicate via phone and email in a professional manner. This position requires great attention to detail, and the Shareholder Training & Recruitment Specialist duties must be completed accurately and delivered with high quality in a timely manner. Applicant must be a Bering Straits Native Corporation shareholder, descendant of a shareholder, or spouse of a shareholder to be considered for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job Internship Program •

Under the direction of the Shareholder Training & Recruitment Supervisor, provides support in maintaining and improving the Summer Internship Program and assist in administrative support, communication, and recruitment for the program. Training Programs Shareholder Training and Enrichment Program (STEP) •

Under the direction of the Shareholder Training & Recruitment Supervisor, collaborate with Shareholder Development staff and hiring managers to design, implement and continuously improve a program to hire and train shareholders/descendants for mentorship and apprenticeship positions designed to develop career pathways, grow the skilled workforce of the corporation, and build additional skills and experience in Our People. Seek grant funding such as SOA STEP and WIOA funding. Leadership, Exploration, and Development (LEAD) Program •

Under the direction of the Shareholder Training & Recruitment Supervisor, collaborates with Shareholder Development staff and hiring managers to design, implement and continuously improve a leadership development and management training program for shareholders and descendants, which will be a networking opportunity with other participants in the program and with leaders from the Bering Straits Region and the Native community. It will also be an opportunity to learn leadership skills that will assist participants to advance in their career or to acquire other leadership positions and receive mentoring and coaching from experienced leaders. Job Training •

Under the direction of the Shareholder Training & Recruitment Supervisor, collaborates with Shareholder Development staff and hiring managers to design, implement and continuously improve shareholder and descendant employee job training to ensure shareholder/descendant employees have the necessary skills and tools to succeed, including, but not limited to, a training application process and LinkedIn Learning access. Include coaching on tools to enhance current performance, not just pathways to promotion. Shareholder Employee Career Enrichment Program •

Under the direction of the Shareholder Training & Recruitment Supervisor, assists with the development, tracking, and management of fulfillment of the Shareholder Employee Career Enrichment Plans as assigned. Support individual Shareholder and Descendant employees on professional development to accomplish their career goals as assigned. Shareholder and Descendant Talent, Sourcing & Recruitment •

Under the direction of the Shareholder Training & Recruitment Supervisor, assists in building and updating the database of shareholder and descendant talent records, including a Talent Bank. Provides support to maintain and improve the Talent Bank and assist in the marketing and recruitment for each program. •

Assists in collaborating with workforce development staff, hiring managers, and the Shareholder Training & Recruitment Supervisor on the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of shareholder sourcing and recruiting activities and the accompanying reporting and processes. •

Assists with outreach to hiring managers with open positions. •

Provides support for training on the Shareholder Hire Preference policy for managers. •

Provides support in design and implement the overall SH/DEC recruiting strategy – assists to find and attract qualified BSNC shareholders and descendants to apply for open positions. •

Assists with sourcing and attracting BSNC shareholder and descendant candidates by using databases, social media, etc. •

Assists to track fulfillment and selection/non-selection of shareholder candidates in the applicant tracking system and ensure all shareholder applicants are properly dispositioned by hiring managers in the system. •

Provides support to ensure all self-certified applicants are verified for shareholder/descendant status and communicate statuses as they are updated to hiring managers and other applicable internal managers. •

Assists to conduct audits of existing shareholder/descendant employee lists throughout BSNC and subsidiaries to confirm shareholder/descendant status. Obtain documents as needed to verify the status of employees who self-certify as shareholders or descendants.

Workforce Development Support & Job Training •

Assists to collaborate with hiring managers and the Shareholder Training & Recruitment Supervisor to design, implement, and continuously improve the workforce development support & job training resource library to ensure shareholder/descendant employees have access to resources intended to help develop the necessary skills and tools to succeed. Include resources and tools to enhance current performance, not just pathways to promotion. •

Provide support to design, plan, and implement an annual BSNC career fair and quarterly virtual career fairs. •

Assists with calendaring service for BSNC shareholders and descendants to discuss pathways to employment and opportunities within BSNC and discuss workforce development resources available to shareholder and descendant applicants and employees on resume writing, interview skills, skill development, job performance, training, and other professional development activities to accomplish their career goals. Shareholder and Stakeholder Outreach •

Administer and perform duties to ensure that BSNC’s shareholders and descendants are provided with timely information on employment, advancement, training, and educational opportunities and any benefits provided by BSNC and/or Beringia Settlement Trust (BST). •

Carry out authorized and supported BST and/or BSNC outreach activities. •

Represent BST programs and/or BSNC and promote their missions at selected conferences, job or recruiting fairs, forums and meetings as assigned. •

Manage activities related to the planning, organizing and follow-through on events related to shareholder development as directed. •

May provide support as assigned to the Shareholder Training & Outreach Supervisor to develop and maintain effective relationships with community and organizational leaders that support the goals of the Shareholder Development Department and the mission of BSNC. Admin Support •

Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner. •

Assist to develop reports to assist with analyzing organizational objectives and relevant financial data, program structure and objectives, and other sources of funding and budgets for review and approval. •

Assist in identifying and document Shareholder Development Department procedures for review and approval. •

Assist in preparing information and reports to support the development of short and long-term strategic plans and goals relating to shareholder development programs for review and approval and prepare reports to monitor and report on progress of strategic plan initiatives relating to shareholder development programs for review and approval. •

Maintain computer and manual filing systems. Coordinate office procedures. •

Carry out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning, faxing, etc. Prepare template agreements and emails on behalf of other office staff. Prepare accurate meeting minutes and monthly expense reports for managers, supervisors and staff as directed. •

Other duties and special projects as assigned. Must be flexible and available to perform other duties in support of BSNC’s various programs as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION Required (Minimum) Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in Business, Human Resources, Education, or related field. Experience with shareholder or customer relations. A combination of education and experience may be used to meet experience requirements. Experience with planning, organizing and managing activities and events. Valid state driver’s license Experience administering special projects. Verified shareholder, descendant of a shareholder, or spouse of a shareholder of BSNC. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics •

Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe •

Ability to travel as necessary and willing to work days, evenings, nights, overtime and weekends as required. •

Working knowledge of ANCSA and Alaska Native history. •

Knowledge of Bering Straits region, history, and culture. •

Knowledge of postsecondary institutions and student financial aid requirements. •

Ability to set priorities, handle multiple tasks and application deadlines with a high degree of accuracy. •

Ability to develop and implement projects using knowledge of good business practices, policies and organization. •

Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work. •

WORK ENVIRONMENT Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES •

No supervisory responsibilities. ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
