Overview
The University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track or clinical‑track position in Orthopedic Surgery (Small Animal) at the rank of Full, Associate, or Assistant Professor. Candidates should have advanced clinical skills, leadership, and the ability to innovate in areas such as minimally invasive procedures, advanced imaging, or 3D printing. The role includes participation in clinical and bench‑top research, teaching, and service within the UF Small Animal Hospital.
Responsibilities
Didactic and clinical training of professional students, graduate students, residents, and interns.
Active participation in the Small Animal Orthopedic Surgery Service, including surgical case management, after‑hours backup, and consults.
Development and mentorship of the service, and participation in continuing education.
Conduct research in small‑animal orthopedics with access to 3D printing, gait analysis, surgical training, and biomechanics laboratories.
Collaborate across campus with Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and the College of Medicine.
Engage in professional development and support continuing education for colleagues.
Faculty Rank Requirements
Full Professor : Recognized national or international authority or outstanding teacher with a distinguished record beyond the associate‑professor level.
Associate Professor : Highest degree or equivalent professional qualification; distinguished record beyond the assistant‑professor level with creative work, research, or teaching.
Assistant Professor : Highest degree or equivalent professional qualifications; demonstrated experience relevant to the position and qualities aligned with the unit’s goals.
Required Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
Board certification in the American or European Colleges of Veterinary Surgery (ACVS or ECVS) or completion of a surgery residency program.
Experience in small‑animal orthopedic surgery is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional surgical certifications beyond ACVS/ECVS.
Experience with minimally invasive orthopedic surgery and advanced imaging modalities (CT, MRI, arthroscopy, C‑arm).
Established record of research and grant writing in translational veterinary medicine.
Expected Salary Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
