The Commercial Credit Manager (CCM) is responsible for commercial credit underwriting and production on aggregate bank commercial loan exposure in excess of $750,000. The position involves substantial interaction with the Director of Credit Administration, as well as all commercial directors and commercial relationship managers. This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule, and the ability to work from a Camden National Bank location in Maine or New Hampshire. Duties and Responsibilities
Manages, coaches, and develops a group of Credit Officers (I, II, and III), as well as commercial lenders when appropriate. Through the use of digital tools and solutions, as well as manual due diligence, ensure the Credit Officers are producing within the goals set for this area and are responsible for continually enhancing the process for optimal quality and efficiency of commercial loan production. Understand and communicate any relevant trends in the Bank’s credit risk profile to the Director of Credit Administration. Operate with a high level of loan authority and monitor the authorities of direct reports. Oversee the ultimate quality of commercial credit underwriting, including but not limited to Coding accuracy, Risk Rating accuracy, Fair Lending and SOX reporting. Collaborate with the commercial banking teams on all best practices including but not limited to process, loan structure, industry trends, risk appetite, and other policy related items. From time to time, underwrite commercial and commercial real estate loan requests in adherence with Bank lending policy. Discuss and solution with direct reports any perceived credit weaknesses or potential credit problems that direct reports may uncover in the underwriting process. Actively participate in external credit related exams and audits as requested. Driven to make decisions that produce high-quality impact by applying technical knowledge, analyzing problems, and calculating risks. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and 5-7 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Formal credit analysis training or the experience and educational equivalent Must possess a valid driver’s license Skills and Abilities
Ability to work collaboratively at all levels of the organization Proven ability to successfully communicate, interact, and build effective relationships Strong leadership skills as demonstrated through direct or intangible experiences Successful track record of performance as an individual underwriter and through leading others, either formally or informally Ability to make business decisions with the Bank’s goals and objectives in mind Able to effectively communicate before groups of people, both within and outside the organization; comfortable and effective in communicating upward Possess and demonstrate good project management skills and has proven track record of leading or adding significantly to project teams, both within the region, on an organizational level, or even outside the bank on a volunteer basis Supervisory Skills
The CCM will have direct reports that consist of up to several Credit Officers (I, II, and III). The CCM is responsible for carrying out supervisory duties in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and developing employees; planning assigning and directing work efforts; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
