The Controls Engineer Coordinator provides project support to the plant’s Maintenance team. This position is responsible for designing, programming, repairing, and maintaining programmable logic controller (PLC) systems used within PepsiCo facilities. This position also provides support to improve productivity and operating performance in the critical areas of health and safety, quality, production, cost, service, employee engagement, and other people/leadership objectives through the use of continuous improvement methodologies.
Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance, program and perform repairs on PLC systems
Perform preventative maintenance or repairs on more advanced production equipment as needed
Diagnose equipment malfunctions and make more complicated repairs or adjustments as needed
Perform breakdown analysis and oversee or perform general housekeeping
Inspect equipment for proper functioning and perform preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer’s specifications
Upgrade production lines with new/upgraded equipment/technology
Direct activities of outside contractors working on assigned line
Enforce GMP, safety, and audit standards
Mentor and support less experienced technicians as needed
Work independently under limited supervision (self-management)
Document work schedule and work tasks completed
Operate in continuous work near heat, noise, gas, and chemicals
Perform frequent lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending, kneeling
May require weekend and/or holiday work
Qualifications
Experience with mechanical systems (gearboxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings)
Experience with compressors/boilers systems (steam systems)
Experience with conveyors and airveyors (air cylinders, diverters, sensors, motor/speed controls)
Experience with hydraulics (high‑pressure cylinders, pumps, valves, troubleshooting)
Experience with pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, reading, troubleshooting)
Experience with preventative maintenance (computerized preventative charts/data)
Experience with pumps (troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, understanding specs)
Experience working with basic electrical systems (starters, fuses, contacts, relays)
Experience with PLC (industrial maintenance, computer control systems)
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and reading mechanical drawings
Team‑based environment experience
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $84,000 – $140,650 per year
10% performance bonus paid annually
