Shearer Supply, Inc.
Position Overview
The Automation (AI) Architect builds and runs the automations that connect our systems. You will own n8n as the central orchestrator, breaking complex processes into reusable subflows, setting standards for reliability and observability, and keeping AI powered steps safe and cost efficient. In parallel, you will align and govern Power Automate/Logic Apps where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
Own n8n as the workflow hub; design a controller pattern that dispatches to modular sub-workflows with clear input and outputs.
Integrate ERP, CRM, eCommerce, and internal apps via APIs and webhooks; normalize payloads, map fields, and enforce data contracts with the analytics team.
Build data aware automations that leverage OneLake/Fabric (Dataflows, Data Factory, Lakehouse) with clear read/write rules and job dependencies.
Operationalize Azure OpenAI for parsing, routing, and retrieval of approved doc stores like SharePoint/Dataverse; apply token budgets, prompt templates, and guardrails for cost and quality.
Manage environments and releases for workflows; handle credentials, secrets, and least-privilege access.
Document runbooks, error taxonomies, and rollback steps; partner with Sales Ops, Inside Sales, eCommerce, IT, and the data team.
When appropriate, extend coverage with Power Automate, Logic Apps, Zapier, or PowerApps/Canvas while maintaining consistent governance.
Requirements
2 to 5+ years building production automations or integrations with n8n or similar workflow tools.
Strong API skills and basic data mapping; comfortable with JSON, CSV, and SQL.
Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, ETL pipelines, and Azure services preferred.
Reliability and error handling mindset; confident with DLQs, retries, and alert thresholds.
Token and cost aware when using AI; tracks cost per run and optimizes prompts and retrieval scope.
Job Details Mid-Senior level
Contract
Design, Art/Creative, and Information Technology – Wholesale
Plano, TX $60,000.00–$70,000.00
