Job Description Summary GE Vernova’s Power Conversion & Storage business combines advanced energy conversion and storage systems to meet the electrification needs of utilities and industries. With a focus on power stability, energy storage, and industrial electrification solutions, Power Conversion & Storage empowers customers by addressing their most complex electrification challenges and accelerating their transition to a sustainable, decarbonized future. The Lead Field Service Engineer performs a wide range of engineering tasks and ensures proper installation, service, and commissioning of products and services, providing technical support, maintenance, emergency support, and remote troubleshooting.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform installation and commissioning of automation or dynamic positioning systems at customer site locations during ship construction.
Conduct troubleshooting activities at site locations during scheduled port visits or at sea to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implement corrective actions.
Ensure technical integrity and proper installation and commissioning of equipment.
Develop documentation for commissioning, maintenance procedures, and customer training.
Execute on‑site project management and technical lead duties to resolve customer issues and provide satisfaction.
Identify sales opportunities for service agreements, spare parts, training, and upgrades.
Provide on‑call support in response to customer calls for service.
Assist in business growth and direction within North America.
Support engineering teams working on customer upgrade projects.
Complete timely service reports and other administrative requirements.
Perform work on‑board vessels within GE / Customer safety guidelines either in shipyards or offshore.
Extended hours / overtime may be required during peak periods and emergency circumstances.
Domestic or overseas travel to customer sites for extended periods of time.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
OR Associate’s Degree or related discipline from an accredited college or university with a minimum 5 additional years of related industry experience.
OR School diploma or GED equivalency with a minimum 8 years of related industry experience.
Ability and willingness to travel 85% of the time on short notice.
Desired Characteristics
Physically fit to board vessels offshore.
Previous Marine Industry Experience.
For field service engineers that have the potential of working offshore, ability to pass a Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET) and offshore survival course.
US Person with ability to achieve security clearance for Department of Defense projects.
Leadership qualities that align with GE Vernova Way.
Background in a customer‑facing service environment.
Ability to execute increasingly complicated assignments requiring substantial engineering skill and independent judgment.
Strong computer proficiency and technical aptitude with Microsoft Office applications.
Compensation Base pay range: $78,800 - $131,200, influenced by experience, education, and skill set. Eligible for performance bonuses and equitable incentives. Position expected to close on December 31, 2025.
