Position Summary The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a General Anesthesiologist committed to patient care and resident education. The physician will provide anesthetic care across the UNC Hospital campus, several community hospitals, and ambulatory surgical centers, with a focus on a wide variety of general cases (neuro, vascular, orthopedic, outpatient, and non‑OR settings). The role supports scholarly contribution and development and includes teaching responsibilities for graduate‑level learners and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team that includes CRNAs.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent)
Completed an ACGME‑accredited Anesthesiology Residency program (by anticipated start date)
ABA certified or eligible to become certified
Eligible for licensure in North Carolina
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience in an academic setting with teaching of interns, residents, and fellows
Collaboration with CRNAs and interdisciplinary teams
Proficiency in a broad spectrum of general anesthesia cases, including neuro, vascular, orthopedic, outpatient, and non‑OR settings
