Pay Range Base pay range: $80,000 - $80,000 per year. Additional pay based on skills and experience.

Job Overview The Assistant Director Engineering serves to maintain the entire hotel facility, including physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs. Management-level associates are expected to work as needed to complete job responsibilities; overtime applies for OEM associates as calculated accordingly. Exempt managers must regularly direct the work of at least 3 full‑time associates or equivalents. Primary duties involve administrative, executive, or professional tasks more than 50% of the time and use discretion and independent judgment.

Qualifications

High school or equivalent education required; Bachelor’s degree or related technical school degree preferred.

Five to seven years in a major hotel, hospital, or building, including four years in a supervisory capacity.

Ability to obtain and/or maintain government‑required licenses, certificates or permits; must possess, or be able to acquire, a first‑class operating engineer’s license in boilers and air conditioning as required.

Proficient spoken, reading, writing and understanding of the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to lead in a team environment; minimal direct supervision.

Basic computational ability.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office & Outlook, and ability to learn HotSOS maintenance program.

Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills, budgetary analysis capabilities.

Knowledge of AAA and Forbes service standards; ability to coach, train, and develop service professionals to AAA Four‑Diamond and Forbes Four‑Star standards.

Thorough knowledge of mechanical equipment such as chillers, boilers, water softeners, refrigeration.

Thorough knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems; maintain records of power, water, and fuel consumption.

Experience with office procedures, ordering materials, securing bids, city codes, building laws, construction, blueprint reading.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; solve problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.

Job Responsibilities

Conduct walk‑throughs and assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure and equipment.

Verify completion of routine maintenance and repairs in public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, outlets, back‑of‑house spaces, grounds, Golf Clubhouse, lodge, marina, tennis center, restaurants, water park, pool complexes, fitness center, spa and commercial spaces.

Assist in hiring, training, supervising, and disciplining department staff and all other staff under engineering direction.

Adhere to corporate purchasing policies and controls; handle outside contractor bids, budgets, schedules, and safety procedures.

Maintain effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs; conduct training for other departments on equipment usage and energy conservation.

Inform the General Manager and department heads on building and system conditions; provide cost‑effective proposals and generate reports.

Review agreements and ensure accurate HOA/CDD billings.

Ensure maintenance on non‑resort assets is billed to HOAs.

Supervise repairs and maintenance across the hotel.

Prepare technical data, bid packages, project work, alterations, repairs; basic building code knowledge.

Train in fire prevention, environmental health and safety, and engineering systems; attend operations meetings.

Oversee payrolls and prepare departmental manpower schedules.

Oversee water treatment programs.

Attend morning walk‑arounds as required.

Represent the hotel professionally in community and industry organizations.

Collaborate as a team with all departments.

Provide constructive feedback to all departments.

Serve as a leader and role model to all employees.
