As Director, Medical Payer Strategy, you will drive the development and execution of the market access payer, GPO, IDN, guideline, and clinical pathway scientific strategies within key oncology therapeutic areas. You will work cross‑functionally in a matrixed environment to support scientific and market access needs of brand and market access commercial, HEOR, and medical affairs. You will represent Medical Payer Strategy internally and externally, translating scientific and HEOR data with cross‑functional stakeholders, and communicating medical access evidence into gaps assessment processes. Lead development and execution of the medical affairs access/HCDM strategy and tactics across all oncology access channels (payer, distribution, IDN, GPO, clinical pathways, guidelines). Lead Oncology Clinical Core Team in the development and execution of clinical guidelines and pathways scientific plans. Provide market access scientific and pharma‑economic subject‑matter expertise to cross‑functional teams. Participate in global gaps assessment and provide medical market access input into Integrated Evidence Plans via IEST, present medical access considerations at VAT and AST. Develop strategic resources and provide relevant scientific and technical training. Lead development of HCDM‑focused medical pharmacoeconomic materials, medical education programs, advisories, and HCDM symposia. Identify and execute strategic initiatives with HCDM‑focused professional organizations in oncology focused on enhancing quality of healthcare delivery. Manage approval of field materials (slide decks, FAQs, etc.) for use by the Value & Access team with external access/HCDM customers. Partner on development of HCDM‑focused Real World Evidence with HEOR to support scientific and business strategy. Develop strategy for potential access/HCDM collaborative customer research aligned with strategic objectives of oncology and AbbVie. Keep abreast of scientific, health economic and payer policy through conferences and medical literature and act as subject‑matter expert. Ensure compliance with applicable corporate and divisional policies and legal requirements. Support development of Medical Affairs resources and deliver training to the Value & Access Field Teams. Qualifications
Advanced education: PhD, PharmD, PA, NP, residency or post‑doctoral training highly preferred. 8+ years experience in the pharmaceutical industry with substantial understanding of managed care and pharmacoeconomic experience. Management and leadership experience at project level and strategic initiatives; proven cross‑functional leadership skills. International experience is a plus. Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to interact externally and internally to support global business strategy. Knowledge of statistical methodology, regulatory requirements governing RWE and experience in development strategy and design of RWE protocols. Works mostly independently with limited guidance.
