As an Attorney Manager at Liberty Mutual, you will represent the company and its policyholders in civil litigation involving claims for damages or personal injury. The role is for a seasoned Senior Litigation Counsel to lead high‑exposure insurance defense cases across multiple jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
Lead Trial Counsel in high‑stakes cases with exposure exceeding $250,000 in state and federal courts nationwide.
Develop and execute sophisticated litigation strategies for complex legal and jurisdictional issues.
Represent Liberty Mutual and its policyholders in civil and workers’ compensation litigation, providing strategic counsel to Claims Representatives and insured clients.
Leverage advanced litigation technologies, e‑discovery tools, and data analytics to enhance case preparation and courtroom performance.
Mentor junior attorneys and deliver training programs on litigation best practices.
Manage litigation expenses, trial budgets, and case timelines to ensure quality representation and cost efficiency.
Demonstrate flexibility across diverse jurisdictional rules and court procedures, applying deep knowledge of insurance policies, coverage issues, liability defenses, damage evaluations, and bad faith claims.
Negotiate settlements using advanced techniques such as hi‑lo agreements and settlement proposals.
Lead legal teams, collaborating with experts, paralegals, and claims adjusters, and build collaborative client relationships.
Qualifications
JD or LLB degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the bar in at least one listed state and in good standing.
Minimum of 10 years of successful trial attorney experience focused on insurance law and complex civil litigation.
Proven track record managing high‑stakes, complex litigation with substantial exposure.
Trial experience through verdicts in high‑exposure insurance defense cases.
In‑depth knowledge of insurance law, regulatory frameworks, and client business operations.
Exceptional legal research, writing, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Proficiency with e‑discovery platforms, case management software, and remote collaboration tools.
Demonstrated leadership and mentorship experience within a legal team.
Superior communication, interpersonal, and client relationship management skills.
Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple complex cases concurrently.
Commitment to ethical legal practice and regulatory compliance.
Pay and Benefits Base pay range: $148,000.00/yr - $275,000.00/yr. Actual pay will be based on skills and experience.
Eligible performance bonuses, 25 days of flexible time off per year, personal holidays, and a 401(k) plan with matching contributions.
