The Next Gen Director is responsible for leading and overseeing all ministry areas from birth through young adulthood (typically birth-college/early career). This role provides vision, strategy and leadership for a comprehensive Christ-centered discipleship path for the next generation.

The Next Gen Director ensures that children, students, and young adults are nurtured in their faith and connected to the life of the church, while equipping parents and volunteers to lead well.

Supervisory Responsibilities This role supervises the Next Gen Team (Nursery, Children’s and Students).

Key Responsibilities Develop and implement a unified strategy for discipleship from cradle to college. Ensure alignment of all age‑specific ministries with the overall mission and values of Concord Church. Stay current with cultural and developmental trends affecting young people.

Ministry Oversight Provide leadership and support to the leaders of Nursery, Children’s and Student Ministries. Oversee Sunday and midweek programming for each age group. Ensure age‑appropriate teaching that is biblically sound and spiritually formative. Oversee the recruitment, training, and shepherding of volunteers across all Next Gen ministries. Develop team structures and leader roles for effectiveness and sustainability. Foster a culture of excellence, encouragement, and spiritual growth among leaders.

Family Engagement Equip and empower parents as the primary disciplers of children. Offer resources, classes, and events that support families in each life stage. Foster meaningful partnerships between the church and home. Provide spiritual care and guidance for kids, students and families. Encourage engagement in the broader church community (Worship, Grow, Serve, Give). Promote mentoring relationships and small group participation.

Events & Milestones Plan and execute key ministry events (camps, retreats, outreach events, family nights, etc.) Celebrate and guide families through spiritual milestones (baby dedication, baptism, graduations, etc.).

Administration & Communication Develop and manage ministry budgets for each Next Gen area. Ensure clear communication with parents, volunteers and staff. Utilize church management software and communication tools to track engagement and safety. Attend and successfully completes all training required by Concord Church. Perform other duties/projects as assigned.

Qualifications Spiritual & Personal A mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. A calling and passion for discipling the next generation. A high standard of personal integrity and Christian character.

Professional & Educational Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry, Education, or related field (Masters Degree Preferred). 3-5 Years of experience in youth, children’s or family ministry leadership. Proven leadership and administrative skills.

Other Competencies Strong communicator with kids and adults. Ability to build and lead healthy volunteer teams. Creative, adaptable, and culturally aware. Financial acumen, including budgeting, financial reporting, and resource management. Advanced Skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and web savvy. Experience with technology and church management software.

Physical Requirements An employee in this position primarily works in a typical office or sanctuary environment, is generally sedentary, and uses computers, calculators, phones, and other office equipment to draft documents, communicate with church staff, and fulfill other position duties. An employee in this position is required to walk, hear, speak, and stand to conduct sermons and minister to the members (both at the main church and at remote locations). Work is conducted in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment. The ability to manage stress, build professional and collaborative relationships, and reason through both complex church business situations and profound personal crises that members may experience is required. A flexible schedule is required since this position requires evening and weekend work due to scheduled events.

Travel Requirements A valid Texas drivers’ license and acceptable motor vehicle record is required.
