Senior Principal Scientist, R&D Real-World Evidence (RWE) Advance Analytics (AA) Join our team at Johnson & Johnson as a Senior Principal Scientist in R&D Real-World Evidence (RWE) Advance Analytics. We are looking for an experienced scientist who can lead RWE projects, develop data-driven solutions, and mentor teams across our Innovative Medicine organization.

Location: Raritan / Titusville, NJ; Cambridge, MA; Spring House, PA, or remote work may be considered.

Responsibilities

Lead a portfolio of RWE projects and develop best practices, tools, and technical frameworks.

Own end-to-end RWE studies from hypothesis formulation to analysis, programming, and interpretation.

Provide thought leadership in developing and applying RWD methodologies to mitigate bias and confounding.

Generate RWE or secondary evidence from post-hoc RCT analyses, observational databases, and literature reviews for regulatory interactions.

Create study protocols, statistical analysis plans, and deliverables, instituting best practices across the team.

Develop pipelines, functions, and packages for reusable analysis components.

Collaborate with therapeutic area scientists to design and deliver evidence generation projects.

Partner with the Real-World Evidence LT team to drive strategic planning and cross-functional execution.

Contribute to best‑practice development, process improvements, and data strategy.

Lead policy efforts to influence regulatory acceptance of RWE.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. or master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., epidemiology, statistics, biostatistics).

≥5 years of relevant experience in start‑up, technology, biopharma, or healthcare or significant academic experience.

Extensive hands‑on experience with data engineering, exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling, time‑to‑event analyses, comparative effectiveness, and causal inference.

Demonstrated expertise with real‑world data sources (EHR, insurance claims, registry data) and clinical trial data structures.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

Expert proficiency in R or Python with working skills in SAS and SQL.

Experience leading technical frameworks for RWE analyses.

Knowledge of RWE Common Data Models (OMOP, FHIR, i2b2) and analysis frameworks (OHDSI, pharmaverse).

Strong stakeholder and operations management capabilities.

Experience in business planning, resource allocation, and prioritization.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with drug discovery and the clinical development process.

Expertise in oncology, immunology, or neuroscience drug development.

Experience in delivering regulatory‑grade evidence and responding to agency reviews.

Pay The anticipated base pay range for this position is $137,000 – $235,750.

Vacation up to 120 hours per calendar year; sick time up to 40 hours per calendar year (56 hours if resident of Washington); holiday pay up to 13 days; work, personal and family time up to 40 hours.
