Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Analytical Instrumentation Specialist in Fort Saskatchewan.

About You and This Role - What You Will Do In this role, you will support manufacturing operations by consulting with plant clients to understand their needs, conducting complex routine and non‑routine laboratory analyses, and ensuring high‑quality data delivery using statistical tools as needed. You will use data systems to monitor analytical system performance, make necessary modifications, and report results to clients. Your responsibilities include complex calibration, preventive maintenance, and the implementation and qualification of new analytical equipment and methods. You will act as an informal resource for less experienced team members.

Responsibilities

Schedule and perform expert‑level operation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of analytical instruments.

Conduct complex routine and non‑routine analyses, modify methods as needed, and mentor less experienced team members.

Facilitate sample submission processes and review all submissions for alignment with plant goals.

Investigate and troubleshoot suspect results and variability in instrument performance.

Select appropriate analytical measurement techniques and interpret data using established methodologies.

Develop, validate, and implement new analytical methods.

Document and report results in a timely manner.

Train and mentor other lab personnel in analytical systems operation.

Maintain quality system requirements for the lab.

Actively participate in the department safety program and continuously improve EH&S and analytical performance.

Qualifications

Minimum of a 2-year college diploma in Chemical Technology or equivalent.

3+ years of experience in an industrial lab or analytical lab technologist role.

Ability to work overtime as needed.

Legal authorization to work in Canada.

Preferred Skills

Bachelors degree or higher in Chemical Technology, Chemistry, or equivalent.

7+ years of experience in an industrial lab role.

Experience with data quality assurance and various analytical instruments (FT-IR, titrations, GC, ICP, IC, LC, TGA, TOC).

Experience with LIMS and office software programs.

Development and implementation of lab safety programs and procedures.

Physical Requirements

Able to lift, push, pull, bend, reach, and stand for extended periods.

Wear all required personal protective equipment.
