What to Expect The Sr. Manager, Commercial Credit oversees all aspects of the originations process, including deal structure, underwriting, documentation and funding. In addition, this role is responsible for the annual reviews and renewals, as well as the ongoing account management process. This role has credit approval authority as defined by the Dealer Finance – Commercial Credit Authority Policy.
What You Will Do
Work in conjunction with field sales management to establish acceptable credit structure and identify exceptions to credit origination and credit authority policies.
Review all due diligence items submitted by field sales and identify deficiencies for correction.
Review submitted Commercial Credit request prior to assigning it to a Sr. Commercial Credit Analyst.
Manage the workflow of new requests assignments.
Review the accuracy of all underwiring completed by the analyst.
Make credit recommendations for all requests.
Make credit decisions for applicable credit exposure as outlined in the Dealer Finance – Commercial Credit Authority Policy.
2. Annual Reviews:
Assist the Commercial Credit Portfolio Team with the underwriting process of annual reviews by assigning reviews to team members, reviewing underwriting, and making recommendations and/or decisions where applicable.
3. Documentation & Funding:
Ensure all approved loan products are properly documented.
Oversee the funding process of new loan products.
4. Portfolio Management (first 6 months on books):
Establish new customers in systems for ongoing dealer management.
Oversee all aspects of portfolio management (Dealer Monthly Review, Overline Management, etc.).
5. Lead, mentor, and develop team members by providing direction, performance feedback, and support to ensure effective collaboration, professional growth, and achievement of organizational and personal goals.
Qualifications What You Will Bring
Minimum 8 years’ related experience in bank or captive commercial automotive lending.
Prior automotive underwriting and risk management experience preferred.
Minimum 3 years supervisory experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or related discipline.
Advanced degree a plus.
Possess a high level of subject matter expertise in dealership operations and financial statements.
Excellent understanding of factors that impact the auto business and dealer profitability.
Familiarity to loan policies and procedures.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to successfully manage, train, develop and mentor direct reports.
Strong written and verbal communication skills including ability to present to leadership.
Strong interpersonal skills to work in a team environment and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
