Position Overview
A client is seeking experienced Emergency Medicine physicians to provide ongoing locum coverage at a rural community hospital in northeastern South Carolina. This role offers a flexible, high-volume environment ideal for physicians comfortable managing all age ranges and a full spectrum of emergency presentations.
Coverage includes December 24, 27, 31, and
January 1 (holiday premium shift) , with additional shifts available while the permanent recruitment search is in progress.
Annualized Equivalent:
Top 10% of regional locum EM market.
Assignment Highlights
Coverage Dates:
Dec 24, 27, 31, 2025, and Jan 1, 2026 (ongoing need thereafter)
Shift Schedule:
10:00 AM - 10:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
Daily ED Volume:
58-60
Expected Patient Load:
2 patients/hour
Staffing:
2 physicians (day), 1 physician (night)
No APP support
Procedures:
All standard EM procedures required
Population:
All ages, rural demographic
Top 10% market compensation
Joint Commission-certified agency (HPA Healthcare)
Prepaid travel and malpractice coverage provided
Skills & Experience
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine
Active South Carolina Medical License
Active CSR and DEA (must remain permanently registered in SC)
Rural or community hospital experience preferred
Comfortable practicing independently without APP support
Job Responsibilities
Deliver emergency medical care to patients of all ages
Perform emergency procedures and manage acute cases
Communicate with hospital staff for admissions and transfers
Document all encounters in EMR accurately and timely
Provide high-quality, patient-centered care under hospital bylaws
