About You and This Role Dow is seeking a skilled Laboratory Chemist to join our team at Fort Saskatchewan!

In this role, you will assist manufacturing operations by communicating with plant clients, performing sophisticated laboratory studies, and assuring high-quality data delivery. You will calibrate and maintain analytical equipment, introduce new methods, and troubleshoot plant issues to ensure effective resolution.

Responsibilities

Operate, calibrate, and maintain analytical instruments across various technologies.

Conduct routine and complex analyses, modifying methods as needed.

Manage sample submissions, ensuring alignment with plant goals.

Investigate and resolve anomalous results and instrument issues.

Apply appropriate analytical techniques based on product and process characteristics.

Develop, validate, and implement new analytical methods.

Improve work processes and documentation practices.

Use advanced statistical tools to evaluate analytical system performance.

Document and report results promptly and accurately.

Mentor and train laboratory personnel on analytical systems and practices.

Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

Minimum of a 2-year college diploma in Chemical Technology or equivalent; or 4+ years of relevant military experience in lieu of a degree.

3+ years of experience in an industrial or analytical laboratory role.

Ability to work overtime as required.

Legal authorization to work in Canada without visa sponsorship.

Preferred Skills

Bachelors degree or higher in Chemical Technology, Chemistry, or equivalent.

7+ years of experience in an industrial or analytical laboratory role.

Experience with data quality assurance, FT-IR, GC, ICP, IC, LC, TGA, TOC, and other analytical instrumentation.

Familiarity with LIMS and standard Office software.

Previous involvement in developing and implementing lab safety programs.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, push, and pull objects.

Comfortable with frequent bending, reaching, and standing.

Adherence to required personal protective equipment.
