To keep operations running smoothly, we rely on a range of third‑party contracts covering essential services such as security, mechanical and electrical (M&E), HVAC, and more. These partners play a vital role in maintaining our reputation as the UK’s Best Departure Port for cruise passengers.
We’re now looking for an experienced contracts technician to take ownership of several major technical service contracts. This role is key to ensuring our contractors deliver to the highest standards of safety, performance, and compliance.
What you’ll be doing:
Managing day-to‑day contractor activity across planned/reactive maintenance and larger projects
Driving continuous improvement initiatives
Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Ensuring consistent delivery of maintenance works to high standards
Planning and coordinating work across the Port of Southampton
Minimising operational disruption through effective communication
Upholding health and safety policies at all times
Reviewing and approving RAMS, permits to work, and conducting on‑site audits
What we’re looking for:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline
Strong working knowledge of health and safety requirements
Experience as an Authorised Person, issuing permits and managing contractor safety
Familiarity with M&E disciplines including HVAC, lifts, escalators, and BMS systems
Proven ability to manage suppliers to strict SLAs and through tender processes
IOSH, NEBOSH, or project management experience (preferred)
This is a full‑time role working 39 hours per week, with hours of 07:30–16:00 Monday to Thursday and 07:30–15:00 on Fridays. There is plenty of opportunity for overtime, along with participation in an on‑call rota.
