Payroll and Accounting Specialist
Direct Hire | Up to $75,000

Center Valley, PA (Onsite, 5 days/week)

Overview A well‑established construction management and development firm is seeking a Payroll and Accounting Specialist to join their finance department. This individual will be responsible for end‑to‑end payroll processing for multiple entities, in addition to supporting daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of union and prevailing wage payrolls, and a proven ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Finance and supports several affiliated entities within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Accurately process weekly payroll for approximately 140 employees across multiple entities, including union and prevailing wage environments
Verify pay rates, overtime, PTO, bonuses, and deductions for accuracy and compliance
Handle pay discrepancies promptly and issue corrections when needed
Maintain confidentiality and accuracy within the payroll database
Calculate and pay union fringes, dues, and generate certified payroll reports as applicable
Assist with year‑end processing, including W‑2 preparation and related filings
Time Tracking & Attendance
Ensure timely submission and verification of all employee timecards weekly
Review and reconcile hours worked, job codes, and PTO records
Collaborate with HR on annual PTO rollovers, payouts, and lost‑time claims
Compliance
Ensure payroll complies with all federal, state, and local tax laws and prevailing wage requirements
Stay current on changing labor regulations and payroll‑related laws
Support internal and external audits as needed
Accounting Support
Manage full‑cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice entry, reconciliations, and vendor communications
Oversee check runs and payment verification, ensuring accuracy and timely processing
Monitor receivables, post‑cash applications, and prepare AR aging reports
Reconcile general ledger accounts and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Set up and maintain project data, and assist project managers with AIA billing, change orders, and contract documentation
Participate in month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards
Prepare ad‑hoc financial reports and variance analyses to support management decisions
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and payroll processing (construction or project‑based industry preferred)
Proficient in GAAP, financial reporting, and internal control principles
Experience with union/non‑union payroll, prevailing wage, and certified payroll reporting required
Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Experience with Viewpoint/Vista and/or third‑party payroll platforms (such as iSolved) is a plus
Must maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate high ethical standards in all financial and employee matters
