Overview This position is for the new Desert Color branch. Working in a sales-focused environment, you will establish and build member relationships by selling core deposit accounts, loan products, and other credit union services. You will interview and advise members on loans, deposits, and other products, including investment referrals. You will review and process consumer and home loan applications and handle account openings and closings. You will explain credit policies, gather needed documentation, and communicate loan requests and decisions with members and underwriting. You will research and evaluate loan applications to ensure compliance with credit union lending criteria and approval limits. You will provide prompt and professional service, initiate contacting members by phone, letter, and e‑mail to explore additional financial opportunities, and assist and direct loan personnel as necessary. The work schedule is Mon – Sat Flex.

Responsibilities Loan Processing and Sales

Interview members, take applications, and process preliminary documentation on loan requests. Conduct personal and telephone interviews and discuss loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation with members in a manner that elicits a positive response. Actively sell credit life, disability, and GAP insurance. Make MFS referrals. Meet monthly Credit Union sales standards, including promotions and campaigns.

Evaluate and verify loan applications and credit criteria. Compute debt ratios, verify employment and income, determine collateral value, and verify collateral insurance coverage. Recommend loan decisions and cross‑sell to the underwriting department within authority limits, notify applicants of loan decisions, and request additional information when required.

Process loans, including ordering credit reports, title searches, appraisals, commenting on internal underwriting, and handling loan closings.

Develop member relationships and maximize penetration of Credit Union products and services to meet or exceed established baselines.

Make appropriate recommendations for loans, deposits, and other services while maintaining sales and goal orientation.

Counsel members on money management where possible and discuss loan alternatives to elicit a positive response and repayment of current debt owed to the Credit Union.

Resolve any loan or membership account rejections in a timely manner. Process and secure liens on collateralized loans and follow up on pending titles promptly.

Member Relations

Ensure that members’ requests, questions, and issues are promptly and courteously resolved.

Ensure that members are properly informed of Credit Union accounts, loan policies, and services.

Project and maintain the Credit Union’s quality and professional reputation, and observe the Dress Code.

Counsel members whose loan requests were denied, explaining reasons and alternatives.

Open new accounts and all other Credit Union related products and services.

Coordination and Communication

Assist all other employees in branch operational duties as needed.

Assist in training and cross‑training Receptionist and Senior Member Service Reps.

Complete reports and records promptly and accurately.

Attend and participate in meetings and training sessions as required.

Keep Management informed of area activities and any significant problems.

Related Duties

Stay informed regarding local and national economic conditions and legal and regulatory changes.

Act as loan processor / senior member service rep, and branch receptionist as needed.

Ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness, and security of the work area while maintaining member confidentiality.

Review and respond to Point Score Compliance exceptions, policy violations, and loan rejections in a timely manner.

Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

Training / Education / Certification Qualifications

High School Graduate or equivalent. Additional business coursework preferred.

Successful completion of Member Service Rep Certification and Senior Member Service Rep certifications, which include: Lending Sales, Lending 1, Lending 2, Business Services, SBA Lending, Lending 3, SAFE Act registration, Mortgage Lending, and lending tests 1, 2, and 3 passed with 85% or better.

Sales Certified based on loan volume; MCLO Certified based on volume.

Required Knowledge

Thorough knowledge of Credit Union products, services, policies, and procedures.

Sound knowledge of credit union lending procedures, processing, and Loan Pro.

Strong understanding of related legal and regulatory standards.

Solid understanding of Credit Union operations.

Experience Required

Minimum of 2 years of progressive credit union experience, preferably in areas where product promotion, sales (in person and over the phone), and superior member service skills were demonstrated.

Senior Member Service Representative Certification (preferred). Experience with new accounts and loan applications required.

Excellent communication skills and public relation skills.
