Overview The Housekeeping Manager is a key operational leader responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the housekeeping team to ensure exceptional cleanliness and an outstanding guest experience. Working closely with the Assistant Director of Housekeeping, the role focuses on direct supervision, adherence to established standards, and fostering a positive and productive environment for guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Oversight

Direct and supervise daily tasks of the housekeeping team, including room attendants and house attendants.

Execute daily assignments and procedures as set by senior leadership, ensuring maximum productivity and adherence to high standards.

Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house areas to ensure compliance with cleanliness, safety, and brand standards.

Oversee distribution and management of guest amenities, linen, and cleaning supplies.

Coordinate with Front Office and Engineering departments to facilitate a smooth guest experience and resolve maintenance issues promptly.

Assist attendants with cleaning, stripping rooms, linen delivery, and guest requests as needed.

Team Leadership & Colleague Experience

Assist in training, onboarding, and ongoing development of staff.

Provide direct coaching, constructive feedback, and recognition to team members.

Manage staff shifts and breaks to ensure coverage and labor guideline compliance.

Address employee concerns and minor disciplinary matters, escalating complex issues appropriately.

Quality Assurance & Standards Adherence

Implement and enforce cleaning and sanitation protocols.

Monitor quality assurance programs and report findings.

Maintain and report on housekeeping equipment and supplies.

Stay informed on brand standards and departmental policies.

Guest Experience – Inventory & Expenses

Monitor usage of linens, cleaning supplies, and guest amenities to manage inventory and minimize waste.

Assist in tracking departmental expenses and identifying operational efficiencies.

Support the Assistant Director in preparing requisitions for supplies and equipment.

Guest Experience – Safety & Security

Enforce safety and security procedures within the department. Ensure proper use and handling of chemicals and equipment.

Maintain accurate daily records and documentation.

Qualifications 2–4 years of supervisory experience in housekeeping at a full‑service hotel or large hospitality environment, preferably in a fast‑paced urban market such as New York City.

Skills

Strong leadership capabilities with a commitment to team development.

Solid understanding of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and sanitation standards.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Familiarity with hotel property management systems and basic computer skills.

Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift for extended periods.

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Manual dexterity to operate cleaning equipment and handle supplies.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $75K – $85K
