Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns efficiently, and assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs. Inform guests of special promotions, recommend additional items, and apply all selling behaviors during every transaction. Prioritize guests over tasks and demonstrate that commitment by circulating throughout the store. Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements and current sales initiatives. Build sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests and creating a clean, organized environment that promotes repeat business. Process guest purchases and return transactions accurately using the POS system, including providing receipts and ensuring top-notch service. Handle phone calls professionally using GameStop’s greeting, escalating unresolved issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop’s guest benefits such as new title reservations, trade‑in programs, and Pro Rewards. Assist the Store Manager with setting guest‑service expectations for associates, providing training, and maintaining alignment with company policies. Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed. Record written feedback for each associate in Workday/HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure all associates complete onboarding, job training, compliance training, and understand company policies before they are scheduled to open or close shifts. Supervise staffing levels, ensuring compliance with scheduling guidelines and adequate coverage for optimal guest service. Approve payroll, enter paid time off, and verify associates are paid for all time worked. Maintain cleanliness and proper merchandising of all store areas, including restrooms, fixtures, and equipment. Complete daily Omni‑Channel order fulfillment and shipping. Execute inventory control and loss prevention practices, conducting bank deposits, inspecting packages, and reporting concerns to the Store Manager. Support store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties. Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and organize products alphabetically on the sales floor. Reconcile daily business transaction totals and complete closeout paperwork accurately, ensuring sufficient cash and making bank deposits as required. Verify shipments for discrepancies, record issues in the POS system, and communicate findings to the Store Manager or District Manager. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately and promptly with proper labeling. Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety, addressing hazardous situations and reporting injuries promptly. Keep store records/files organized and up to date. Delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders when the Store Manager is absent. Adhere to all GameStop policies, procedures, and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Follow opening and closing procedures consistently. Qualifications
Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Minimum age of 18. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong people skills. Provide genuine and individualized assistance to every guest during each visit. Clear verbal and written communication in both English and Spanish preferred. Achieve objectives in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment. Work independently and within a team, completing tasks timely. Meet associate performance expectations regarding attendance, appearance, safety, and workplace conduct. Operate POS computer system. Basic math skills and ability to alphabetize. Complete required paperwork accurately. Follow written, oral, or diagram instructions. Execute financial tasks in strict accordance with company policy. Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays (minimum 3 days a week). Handle pressure and adapt to stressful situations while maintaining guest interactions. Reliable and trustworthy; good judgment. Work alone, stand, walk, and move throughout the store for up to 12 hours. Perform basic physical tasks: bend, stoop, crouch, balance, lift up to 30 lbs., climb ladders, etc. Understand military ranks and insignia for positions on military bases (if applicable).
