Summary The Body Shop Technician will perform major bodywork, priming vehicles back to factory standards as well as wet sand and buff vehicles after the refinishing process.

Responsibilities

Body Work- Panels, Glass, Jambs

Inspect vehicle damage

Apply mask tape over vehicle parts/windows

Buff

Color Sand

Primer

Bondo

Spray inner jambs

Install and adjust new body panels

Dent repair

Sealers

Remove/Install windshields

Light welding

Prep Vehicles

Prep for paint of automotive vehicles and parts

Mask paint surfaces

Sand parts before they are ready for paint

May have to mix paint according to company specifications

Maintains clean and efficient work area

Masks and protects vehicles that are in surrounding area

Light Welding

Grind weld smooth for body filler.

Mig welding wire feed.

Spot welding light panels.

Dent Repairs

Pull dents and dings to metal parts surfaces.

Repair, restore, refinish, and replace vehicle components

Damage reports, prepping for paint, and buffing

Apply metal glaze and body filler.

Remove and replace body parts to automotive vehicles.

Adjust body doors, hoods, trunks, and fenders to factory specs.

Remove and replace windshield and glass to automotive vehicles.

All other duties as assigned under Body Technician

Must be willing and able to cross-train in other departmental needs

Requires flexibility with schedule including break times as well as working extended hours, weekends, and holidays

Ability to read and write

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Ability to drive both automatic and straight shift vehicles

Ability to record and verify numbers 17 characters in length

Must have demonstrated mechanical abilities

Must have a general knowledge of automobile components

Education & Experience

High School Diploma/G.E.D

Certified in auto body repair by accredited tehcnical college or certifying body.

Minimum 2 years body experience

Must hold a valid state-issued driver's license without restrictions

1 year of experience required OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experienced in mechanical, installation experience in a port-processing environment preferred
