About the Company A leading Fortune 500 manufacturer and recycler of carbon steel products is seeking an Accountant to join its long products division based in West Virginia. About the Role The Accountant will support the division’s financial operations by managing fixed assets, tracking cash flow, preparing payroll, maintaining customer credit and profiles, posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with monthly and year‑end close activities. The role will also involve preparing internal financial reports, performing variance and cost analyses, and collaborating closely with the Accounting Supervisor and other departments to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain fixed asset records and manage related accounting entries.
Monitor and analyze inventory transactions and month‑end balances.
Perform cost and operational analysis to support production and finance teams.
Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile general ledger and subledger accounts.
Support month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
Develop and distribute operational, sales, and financial reports using the ERP system and internal resources.
Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards (including Sarbanes‑Oxley requirements).
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to analyze performance against budget and forecast.
Participate in special projects and other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of public accounting or equivalent experience.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Experience with ERP or accounting software systems.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
