Ophthalmic Technician
Georgia Eye Associates started providing care in 1988 with an experienced team of optometrists and ophthalmologists. They specialize in laser refractive surgery, including Lasik, as well as no‑stitch and laser cataract surgery, while also offering additional services such as multifocal lens implants and cornea repair/transplants.
\ We are now hiring for an Ophthalmic Technician who will support a high‑volume ophthalmic practice focused on delivering quality and compassionate care to each patient needing complete eye care services.
This position requires customer service skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a degree of independent decision‑making.
Responsibilities
Obtaining and documenting patient history
Determining visual acuity
Performing automated and manual refraction for diagnostic purposes
Performing basic lensometry
Pupillary assessment
Visual field testing
PAM
Basic ocular motility assessment
Automated keratometry
Osmolarity testing
Administering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by the physician
Performing office duties and clinical tasks—entering data into EMR, providing patient services
Measurement of intraocular pressure (tonometry)
Pre‑operative preparation of patient
Maintaining equipment and instruments
Perform ocular imaging including OCT, topography
Post‑operative education
Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as needed
Flexible with traveling to various locations
Attention to detail, confidentiality, and ability to seek instruction in unfamiliar areas
Ability to recognize inconsistencies
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited high school
3–5 years of ophthalmic technician experience preferred
Certificate of Achievement (COA) preferred
Additional certifications or training in ophthalmic procedures is an advantage
Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
Independent decision‑making ability
