Lecturer – Philosophy
The Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applicants for a nine‑month non‑tenure‑track Lecturer in Philosophy position to begin August 2026. This is a one‑year position renewable annually, contingent upon satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and availability of funding. The University offers opportunities for promotion to higher non‑tenure‑track ranks for eligible instructors.
Responsibilities
Teach introductory‑level philosophy courses; preferable to teach an upper‑division Ethics of AI course.
Deliver four courses per semester with the possibility of additional summer teaching.
Teach in both face‑to‑face and online formats as required by the department.
Maintain local residence on the Main UNCW Campus.
Required Qualifications
PhD in Philosophy, or ABD status with the doctoral degree conferred by August 1, 2026.
A proven track record of successful teaching in philosophy.
Ability to teach Introduction to Philosophy, Introduction to Ethics, Introduction to Logic, and Critical Reasoning.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional teaching experience in the courses listed above.
Experience teaching both face‑to‑face and online formats.
Ability to teach an upper‑division Ethics of AI course.
