Responsibilities

Performs electrical preventive, repair, and calibration maintenance procedures safely and professionally with minimal supervision in accordance with Federal and State Regulations, and Company Work Rules, Policies and Procedures.

Utilizing training/skillset and electrical tools/metering - perform troubleshooting, maintenance and testing of low and medium voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, motor starters, and power transformers.

Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of high voltage switchyard and Motor Control Center (MCC) equipment and steam turbine‑driven generators and work with/monitor licensed contractor testing and servicing of facility high‑voltage and generator protection equipment.

Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy from waste boilers and its associated equipment, including but not limited to pumps, fans, motors, conveyors and refuse cranes.

Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy from waste air pollution control systems.

Troubleshoot, assess, inspect, adjust, and make repairs as needed to the Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) as well as all facility flow, pressure, temperature, and level instrumentation, including transmitter flow devices, level controls, temperature measurement, and flue gas analysis equipment.

Troubleshoot, assess, inspect, tune/adjust, and make repairs as needed to the Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and historian devices.

Troubleshoot/adjust/tune/repair a variety of systems and system controls to include electronic, digital, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic.

Operate various calibration equipment and perform electrical and instrumentation maintenance and repair work as assigned.

Work with other departments as needed to troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation problems and complete all maintenance work records.

Initiate and complete work‑orders and requisitions and document all critical or pertinent information on a routine basis.

Respond and report to work during off hours when emergency repairs are required and scheduled for the on‑call coverage.

Follow standard safety procedures, correct safety and environmental hazards, and report them to the Shift Supervisor immediately. Read, understand, and apply information such as lockout/tagout procedures, safety rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Work overtime and rotating shifts during outages or if requested.

Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; also communicate clearly whether using in‑situ intercom system, two‑way radio or face‑to‑face.

Anticipate typical problems, identify potential or recurring problems, and take appropriate action with minimal supervision. Troubleshoot equipment, diagnose problems and repair with minimal supervision.

Operate other equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid‑steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment.

Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.

Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the Industrial or Power Industry Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Field, or a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a 3rd class E&I Technician with minimum required instrumentation training/experience.

Licenses required as necessary to comply with State, Environmental, and/or Federal regulatory agencies or if Electrician, licensed as necessary by State, Environmental, and/or Federal regulatory agencies.

Outdoor weather conditions and high‑powered electrical panels.

Noise in work environment.

Physical Demands

Stand, sit for prolonged periods of time, walk.

Handle tools, equipment, fine motor skills, reach with hands and arms.

Climb and walk on heights often greater than 4 feet; stoop, kneel, bend, push, pull, crawl.

Ascend and descend stairs and stationary vertical ladders as part of normal work activity and emergency egress situations.

Lift 50 lbs.

Move about all areas of the plant, including catwalks, deck grating, and uneven surfaces.

Operate fire equipment and access confined spaces as required.

PPE Required

Negative pressure respirator, positive pressure respirator, self‑contained breathing apparatus (steel or composite bottle).

Hardhat, approved safety shoes, eye protection, rubber suit and gloves, chemical‑resistant suit, heat resistant outerwear, flame resistant outerwear, approved hearing protection, gloves, safety harness.
