The position exercises discretion and independent judgment in carrying out complex HR projects, advising supervisors, and ensuring consistent implementation of policies and procedures. All decisions and recommendations are subject to final approval by the Director, Human Resources.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position, with benefits beginning on the first of the month following the start date. The salary range for this non-exempt role is $70,000 - $83,000, depending on experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Employee Development and Training - 25%
- Collaborate with the Director, Human Resources, and senior leadership to embed training programs into the organizational culture by coordinating internal trainers and resources.
- Coordinate new hire orientations and employee training logistics.
- Partner with HR leadership to design, implement, and manage training programs from onboarding to leadership development.
- Facilitate onboarding systems training, including performance management, ADP, and supervisor training.
- Identify training needs and develop tailored content and materials.
- Maintain up-to-date training documentation and process guides to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Oversee scheduling, delivery, and tracking of mandatory training through the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Partner with the Director, Human Resources to conduct regular audits of HR practices to ensure legal compliance and proper documentation.
- Monitor changes in employment legislation and assist in developing and revising policies and employee handbooks.
- Oversee background checks, certification renewals, and tracking of required employee trainings and compliance documentation.
- Support consistent implementation of policies and procedures organization-wide to promote fairness and mitigate risk.
- Administer and maintain HRIS platforms (e.g., ADP, Threads, GotSafety) and manage intranet content to ensure systems are accurate and up to date.
- Oversee employee records and ensure data integrity and compliance with privacy standards.
- Generate and analyze HR metrics such as turnover, compliance, and workforce trends to support strategic planning.
- Serve as administrator for key HR systems and ensure optimal functionality and reporting.
- Partner with hiring managers to define staffing needs, develop candidate pipelines, and draft job descriptions aligned with organizational goals.
- Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, candidate sourcing, interviewing, offers, and onboarding.
- Oversee pre-employment checks and reference verifications.
- Support hiring managers throughout the selection process to ensure timely communication and consistency in hiring practices.
- Support supervisors in conducting 30-60-90 day and ongoing performance evaluations.
- Facilitate training and provide resources for effective coaching, goal setting, and feedback.
- Ensure job descriptions remain current and aligned with HR systems.
- Monitor completion and consistency of performance reviews across the organization.
- Provide guidance to management and staff on employee relations matters, policy adherence, and best practices.
- Support initiatives that foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture and improve employee engagement and retention.
- Promote open communication and trust across all departments.
- Collaborate with the Payroll & Benefits Specialist to audit payroll accuracy and ensure compliance with wage and hour laws.
- Serve as a secondary point of contact for employee questions related to payroll, benefits, and leave administration.
- Provide backup support for payroll processing and assist with leave management (CFRA, FMLA, ADA).
- Partner with HR leadership to implement and achieve strategic and annual operating plan objectives.
- Support people-focused HR initiatives and projects that align with organizational priorities.
- Submit invoices, timecards, mileage reports, and expense reimbursements in accordance with policy and budget guidelines.
- Collaborate with supervisor to establish mutually agreed-upon goals and strategic plans.
- Work under minimal supervision, conferring with leadership on complex or sensitive matters.
- Provide mentorship and promote best practices in planning, execution, and continuous improvement.
- Exercise independent judgment and serve as a subject matter expert in assigned HR areas.
- May supervise hourly and/or non-exempt employees and handle confidential or sensitive information.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Human Resources with a strong background in HR operations.
- Strong understanding of California and federal employment laws.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in HRIS and reporting systems (ADP, Threads, or similar).
- High attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- This position is primarily based at the organization's office, with moderate noise levels.
- The role may require occasional driving or travel within surrounding areas.
