Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to support our manufacturing operations by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems and instrumentation equipment. This role ensures the reliability, safety, and efficiency of plant equipment and processes through hands-on technical support and preventive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Perform installation, calibration, and repair of electrical, electronic, and instrumentation equipment including sensors, PLCs, motors, control panels, and automated systems. Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance on plant electrical and instrumentation systems to minimize downtime. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to electrical wiring, control circuits, instrumentation loops, and automation systems. Read, interpret, and update electrical drawings, P&IDs, schematics, and equipment manuals. Support plant production teams by providing technical expertise during equipment startups, shutdowns, and process changes. Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and best practices when working with electrical and instrumentation systems. Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams on equipment upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects. Document work performed, maintenance logs, and calibration reports in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent in Electrical, Instrumentation, Industrial Automation, or related field. Minimum [5] years of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, sensors, control systems, and instrumentation calibration. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and process diagrams. Familiarity with safety standards including NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA, and Lockout/Tagout procedures. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a proactive, detail-oriented approach. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
Experience with SCADA or DCS systems. Knowledge of industrial networking and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP). Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems). Previous experience in [specific manufacturing industry, e.g., food processing, chemicals, automotive, etc.].
Working Conditions
Plant floor environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving machinery. Ability to work overtime, weekends, or on-call as needed. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights or in confined spaces when required.
