About the Role
The Company is seeking a Managing Director of Development to lead the cultivation, stewardship, and management of a portfolio of donors. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting the vision and strategy to raise significant funds from donors who are committed to the mission of the organization. This role requires a specialist in fundraising and development with a proven track record in meeting and exceeding ambitious goals. The Managing Director will work closely with the regional Executive Director and the advisory board to maximize giving and will be a key player in new donor strategy and acquisition. The position demands a highly skilled relationship builder with excellent communication skills, the ability to independently execute comprehensive relationship management plans, and a deep understanding of best practices in development and fundraising. Applicants for the Managing Director of Development position at the company should have a minimum of 7 years' experience in a related development and fundraising context, with a Bachelor's degree as a minimum qualification. A Master's degree or fundraising certification is preferred. The role requires the ability to set and execute a vision for a specific donor portfolio, monitor progress, and ensure continuous donor stewardship. The ideal candidate will have experience in stewarding a diverse portfolio of donors and funders and be adept at leveraging local development trends to inform and adjust fundraising strategies. The position is part of the Field Fundraising team and is essential in maximizing the contributions of local donors across the country. Occasional weekend or evening work and travel to engage with local donors is to be expected.
