is the maker of Will Leather Goods and a twenty-year licensee of Nike Leather Accessories. We are seeking a creative, market-savvy designer who has a penchant for being on the edge and on the fringe—with a pulse on the

urban streetwear

and

action/skate sports

industry consumer—to elevate accessory products in leather and various textiles, such as bags, duffels, backpacks, totes, messengers, belts, wallets, personal carry items, travel kits, shoe carriers, and head-wear and the next great accessory. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Lead designer in the creative development process, accountable for the entire design and development process—from concept to production—including market research, inspiration boards, designing, sketching, creating CADs, and working with all departments to ensure all info is communicated clearly and on calendar Manage time & action calendar for product development cycle Ensure on-time delivery of fully realized collections that meet the brands’ seasonal direction as well as company initiatives/market needs and margin goals; tells a strong merchandising story, and meet SKU requirements for the brand Ensures that product is consistent with street/skate market trends and business strategy and presents findings to leadership and cross-functional partners Comprehensive knowledge of market trends and raw materials, including sourcing and development of innovative category concepts Create presentation boards and any design selling tools (visual line plans, etc.) Collaborate with internal teams on a regular basis in line-building and creation of design and market-ready presentations with guidance of the manager Create detailed technical drawings and production tech packs/specs for factory partners in Adobe Illustrator Daily communication with overseas factories Knows the competition, travels the market, and anticipates the next new design/ideas Ability to update bestsellers and to reinvent the next best-selling product Ability to structure and design high-perceived-value products with price point in mind Detail oriented to ensure quality of design and fit Partners with the merchandising and sales counterparts to define seasonal time frames and ensure that creative goals and business goals are aligned Develops future concepts for color, print, silhouette, material, and trim Responsible for communicating design details to product development and/or factory partners through accurate, detailed sketches Transfers all concepts and sketches to Illustrator and/or Photoshop. Updates and modifies designs throughout the season during proto reviews as needed Works with Product Development to ensure all communications to the factory are accurate and complete (BOMs, trims, etc.) Works directly with the Director of Merchandising, Product Development, and Sourcing on a daily basis, and has close interaction with Sales counterparts at critical gates/dates towards GTM/launch Market/account visit travel is required. Up to 20% of the time. Mostly domestic, but international as needed. Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Merchandising, or equivalent degree/experience MUST HAVE DIRECT EXPERIENCE IN BOTH DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING OF LEATHER ACCESSORIES OR FOOTWEAR Highly motivated with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Minimum 5 years working with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) Technical knowledge as it relates to raw materials, leather techniques, and manufacturing. Ability to conceive, build, and manage a brand through the entire GTM process. Solid communication and presentation skills Working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, and Microsoft Office Knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, color, sewing techniques, graphics, embroidery, print, and trim.
