Ciena is a global leader in optical communications and, as part of the Modem and Photonics LCM group, the ideal candidate has both hardware and software background and experience with factory production metrics and factory automation. Candidate must be flexible to changing inputs & highly technical problem solver, with interdisciplinary knowledge of software, test & measurement, and feel at home in a multifaceted, multi-team engineering environment, acting as an interface between RMA, Repair, NPI, LCM, product design, other test engineering teams, and the volume production line! Your daily routine will include developing automated software solutions in C# and Cloud and AI space. Once fully tested, you will deploy these solutions globally at our manufacturing sites. You may also develop, build, troubleshoot, and support test station automation used in Ciena's production lines for the modems/photonics crafted by Ciena. You will also be involved in test systems and new tools required for the next generation of products, to grow our testing capabilities, which will be deployed abroad at the sites of our manufacturing partners. Primary Responsibilities : Develop test automation software, test sequences, and test instructions Provide test guidance and Design For Testability analysis at R&D reviews Support the LCM, Repair, & NPI team with test tools during prototype development Test alpha and beta prototypes in the lab to validate the test process Support the Contract Manufacturer (CM) for testing of prototypes and production Develop fault isolation troubleshooting tools and document troubleshooting guidelines Optimize test methods to increase test throughput and robustness Create new tools to scale test capabilities to higher volumes, reducing test time Provide interfaces for other groups to use the new tools with different technologies Integrate test station into the Ciena corporate manufacturing system (define process flow, interface to database, etc.) Adapt new technologies to improve or replace existing test processes Required Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Team player to collaborate with cross-functional teams worldwide Self-motivated, well-organized, with a willingness to learn Assertiveness to drive our contract manufacturer engineers/technicians Proficiency in English (Spanish/Thai is a plus) Ability and willingness to travel abroad occasionally as per business need Strong technical skills with hands-on experience in test & debugging of telecom products Experience with Contract Manufacturer environment Familiarity with laboratory environment and test equipment Hands-on experience in software development in C#/Python and Cloud/AI tools Test systems implementation experience, security standards, and protocols Curiosity to experiment with new technologies and solve current problems Experience with Electro-Optics Secure product development and testing Ability to navigate PCB schematic and layout tools Knowledge of Ciena Optical Modem products is desirable Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Security, Computers, Electronics) Minimum 5-8 years experience in Software/Test Engineering Salary Range: The salary range for this role in Canada is $88,600 - $141,500 The salary range for this role in the USA is $92,000 - $147,000 Pay ranges at Ciena reflect variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations.
