Director of Community Relations – Renewable Energy | Massachusetts
Our client is a mission-driven renewable energy company focused on converting organic waste into clean energy. Backed by a major infrastructure investor, they are scaling quickly across the United States and building long-term partnerships in rural and agricultural communities. We are hiring a Director of Community Relations to lead national public outreach and community engagement for new infrastructure projects. You will serve as the public face of the company in key regions, build local coalitions, lead stakeholder education, and ensure projects are embraced and understood at the ground level. This role reports to the EVP of Innovation and Transformation and plays a vital role in the company’s long-term community strategy. Key Responsibilities:
Represent the company in local communities throughout siting, development, and construction phases Lead public forums, learning sessions, and listening tours to share project information and gather feedback Build and manage coalitions with nonprofits, grassroots groups, and regional partners Support local causes and develop partnership programs to deepen community trust Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Government Affairs, Marketing, and Project Development Report on outreach outcomes, track risks, and ensure feedback loops with internal teams Mentor junior outreach staff and manage external agencies or consultants as needed Required Experience:
7 to 15 years in public affairs, community engagement, or stakeholder relations Experience leading public meetings and community forums Skilled communicator who can translate technical topics into relatable language Comfort working in rural, agricultural, or socioeconomically diverse regions Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple outreach tracks at once Preferred Experience:
Background in renewable energy, environmental services, or waste sectors Experience with grassroots organizing or coalition building Previous work in a fast-paced or high-growth environment Why Join:
