We are looking for a Director of Engineering. The Director of Engineering leads Asset Reliability and Maintenance, Production Engineering, Capital Projects, and Facilities functions, reporting directly to the Site Operations Vice President. This role oversees a team that includes the Maintenance Manager, Lead Production Engineer, Project Engineer, Reliability Engineer, and Facilities Engineer.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborates with the training department to coordinate workshops and learning sessions with OEMs, suppliers, and subject matter experts (e.g., FMEA facilitation, precision maintenance programs) Builds technical capabilities across engineering, maintenance, and facilities teams through targeted skill development Leads the Asset Reliability Pillar as part of the Perrigo Work Systems (PWS) framework Maintains consistent, real-time communication with internal teams and cross-functional partners Drives the implementation of an asset reliability program that maximizes equipment performance, enhances operational resilience, and aligns with budgetary goals Fosters a culture focused on eliminating losses, encouraging full team engagement, and streamlining processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste Oversees capital investment projects and ensures alignment with the site’s strategic objectives—including safety, quality, service, cash flow, productivity, and growth Defines and improves key performance indicators related to equipment reliability Develops project management capabilities across engineering teams through hands-on training, mentorship, and structured development plans
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field Deep knowledge of asset reliability strategies within a manufacturing environment Minimum of 5 years in a leadership or management role Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and investment planning At least 10 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering roles, with a strong focus on reliability and continuous improvement Demonstrated knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean principles, and operational excellence tools A mindset centered on profitability, waste elimination, and operational excellence Skilled in structured problem-solving approaches using Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, or similar methodologies Proven expertise in optimizing manufacturing processes and systems Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Strong organizational and planning capabilities
