Join an Office of Admissions team dedicated to promoting access to higher education for prospective and incoming students at Metropolitan State University of Denver. This role is part of the Office of Admissions, Transfer Services, supporting the MSU Denver Mission to provide accessible, high-quality education that prepares students for careers, further education, and lifelong learning in a diverse, global society.
The Transfer Admissions Counselor's primary responsibility is to recruit and support transfer students. The role involves providing customer service, transfer counseling, course review, and academic planning advice. The counselor will visit Colorado community colleges regularly, build relationships with advising staff, and assist students through the enrollment process. The position also includes delivering presentations and maintaining follow-up communication with students. Additionally, the counselor will develop and implement outreach strategies targeting adult, non-traditional students.
The ideal candidate will be creative, positive, collaborative, detail-oriented, and understand the value of higher education and diversity in service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
On-Campus Efforts (40%) : Advise prospective transfer students on admission, academic planning, transfer credit, policies, financial aid, scholarships, registration, and support services. Maintain contact and collaborate with MSU Denver staff and faculty to facilitate student transitions. Develop transfer articulation agreements and resolve transfer issues.
Recruitment & Outreach (25%) : Represent MSU Denver at community colleges, fairs, workshops, and panels. Maintain visitation schedules, coordinate outreach events, and communicate in Spanish as needed to support diverse student populations.
Adult Non-Traditional Student Recruitment (20%) : Develop outreach plans, engage with community organizations, execute marketing campaigns, and serve as liaison between admissions and financial aid for adult students.
Presentations (10%) : Conduct group and individual presentations about application and transfer processes, including campus tours and community events.
Miscellaneous (5%) : Participate in campus committees, professional development, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience working with diverse populations.
At least 1 year full-time or 3 years part-time experience in higher education or related fields with customer service focus.
Strong written communication skills.
Experience delivering group presentations.
Valid driver’s license for travel.
Bachelor’s degree.
